A delegation from the Japan External Trade Organization's Shanghai office, known as JETRO, visited the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration or SIPA on July 22.
The visitors were led by the head of JETRO's intellectual property department in its Shanghai office, Shohei Sagawa.
Yu Chen, deputy director-general of SIPA, hosted the Japanese officials and the two parties reportedly held a productive meeting about intellectual property or IP protection.
Yu gave an overview of recent initiatives by SIPA, emphasizing the ongoing improvement of the city's administrative system for IP protection.
He highlighted efforts to improve services and policies that support domestic and international businesses investing and operating in Shanghai. Yu welcomed feedback and suggestions from JETRO to further improve Shanghai's IP framework.
For his part, Sagawa praised the support being provided to Japanese businesses in Shanghai. He called for more and stronger collaboration with SIPA.
The meeting also covered topics such as IP protection on e-commerce platforms and at trade exhibitions.
